The winery was founded in 1954 by Boulos Zumot and is now run by his highly motivated son, Omar, together with his brother Khaled. The first new vineyards were established in 1996 in Madaba, 780 meters above sea level. A lot of experiments had to be done. Today a total of three vineyards are cultivated. Sama al-Sarhan is located in northern Jordan, on the border with Syria, 600 meters above sea level. The third vineyard in the mountains near Jerash, others around Madaba and in the Souf region, at around 1,150 meters above sea level.
Branded wines are distributed under the “Saint George” label; “Winemaker`s Selection” offers the winery’s top wines made with vines from Sama.
The Zumot wines are organically certified and many wines have been awarded prizes.
Omar Zumot has founded his own wine academy, the first in Jordan.
